DEMON

 

Demons, as far as this page is concerned, are supernatural creatures native to and intricately connected with the Infinite Layers of the Abyss. There are many sub-races of Demons, and, as the chaotic and infinite nature of the plane suggest, they are as varied as any.

 

The primary and ruling caste of demons are the Tanar'ri. Having long ago taken control of the Abyss from the previous ruling caste, the Qlippoths (or Orbyriths) the Tanar'ri have ruled the Abyss for countless millenia. The position of Prince of All Demons is currently held by Demogorgon, but his rule is hotly contested by several others, including Graz'zt, and Orcus. There are rumors that even Lolth may challenge him with Darkseid's backing.

 

The Qlippoths are the previous rulers of the Abyss. Beaten into obscurity by the Tanar'ri, few Qlippoths still remain in active spotlight. Some like Pale Night, still have prominence due to alliances with Tanar'ri lords, others, like Dagon, have yet to fall into obscurity completely.

Complications

Power Loss: A Tanar'ri's Impervious Toughness does not apply to cold iron weapons, or to magical, holy or harmonic attacks. In addition any being that knows the true name of a tanar'ri can use that to ignore the creature's Impervious Toughness.

Thrills: A tanar'ri revels in destruction and take a perverse pleasure is destruction for its own sake.

Enemy: A tanar'ri is a natural enemy of celestials of all types, as well as to devils.
