DC Crossover Universe

DC Crossover Universe

That truly ties them all together. Somewhere in the DC Multiverse is the as yet un-numbered (Possibly 1-A if its also the home of the Superfriends) Earth with Batman, the Addams Family and Scooby Doo. It poses for an interesting universe really.  BatMite has shown us this reality when Scooby and the gang again encounter Batman in the Brave and the Bold episode Batman's Strangest Cases which also features Weird Al Yankovic.

That opens up an interesting crossover universe.

Did you see it? 2:18 has Shaggy and Velma from Scooby Doo. This places Captain Planet in the DC Universe not the Arcandom as I planned.

Another series that would fit in this universe would be Hero High which had Captain Marvel appear on an episode.  If you never saw the series here's a brief clip of the opening.

Batman/Tarzan

"Claws of the Cat-Woman" was a four-issue limited series published in 1999. It was an "Intercompany Crossover," published in conjunction with DC and Dark Horse Comics. Note that inside the museum is what appears to be the Maltese Falcon.  The series is never referenced again and could easily be ignored.

Batman/Zorro/Shadow

Of course Zorro was an inspiration to Bob Kane in creating Batman and in many origin stories the movie the Wayne's see before they are murdered is the Mark of Zorro.  In the 1990 Zorro TV series episode "The Wizard" Adam West (who played Batman in the 1966 series) played the character Dr. Henry Wayne (perhaps an ancestor?)  Zorro is listed on the wiki as being from the Kingdom of the Shattered Image which was a placeholder for other comic companies and heroes.  Zorro appears with the Green Hornet and the Shadow in the Dynamite Comic series "Masks" which suits me fine as they are all classic pulp heroes and I'd like to keep them in the same universe.  However the Green Hornet encountered Batman in the 66 series and the Shadow appeared in Pre Crisis comics and the Spirit and Doc Savage work with Batman in the First Wave series.

So where do we put them?

DC Universe/Indiana Jones

Normally I would not include Fan Films such as Indiana Jones and the Relic of Gotham which brings Indiana Jones and Batman together however there is another case of a Doctor Jones in the DCU.  All-Star Squadron #5 "Never Step on a Feathered Serpent" (January 1982) has a reference to Hitler's quests for various artifacts of power, including his failed attempt to acquire the Ark of the Covenant.  All-Star Squadron #6, "Mayhem in the Mile-High City", a fellow archaeologist (who is also the madman villain) clearly mentions Prof. Indiana Jones as a contemporary. As an interesting side note in the Marvel Universe there are several references of Indiana Jones as a movie.

Superman/Television Universe

Superman and Wonder Woman appear in the Brady Kids animated series episode Cyndi's Super Friend and Lucy and Ricky meet Superman in Lucy and Superman.  Of course these take place in different times in the 50's for Lucy and the 70's for the Brady's.  Not the same universe you are probably thinking.  Make Room For Daddy was the name of The Danny Thomas Show for its first three seasons. The show was about Danny Thomas's character Danny Williams. He was an entertainer and father trying to balance these duties.  Lucy rents out her home to the Williams in an episode of the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour and another crossover in "Lucy Upsets The Williams Household."  Buddy Sorrel from the Dick Van Dyke Show appears on Danny Thomas Show linking those shows.  Danny Thomas also has crossover ties to Andy Griffith Show and Dick Van Dyke crossed over onto Mad About You when Alan Brady (Carl Reiner) appears on the series.  And why do we care? Because Mad About You ties into a whole bunch of interconnected shows from MASH to X-Files, Friends and Seinfeld tying into a large Television Crossover Universe.

However to make things a little easier since both DC Superman appearances are Pre Crisis I think it's safe to say these Crossovers were erased from said timelines and these can be ignored.

I will point out that people looking like Velma/Shaggy does not mean that it is actually Velma/Shaggy, thus we can put Captain Planet in the Arcandom. Coincidences do happen. It it was more than a brief appearance of two people who look like them (ie. some sort of interaction, even a small interaction like Lurch on Batman), then an argument can be made, but there are people out there who DO look like Velma, and there is a possibility of owning a similar sweater. We don't even see Shaggy's face in that scene.

That is a good point to be made as I would prefer Captain Planet to be separate.

According to Phineas and Ferb Mission Marvel, they share the same universe.
