XIBALBA

Xibalba is the infernal home of Zaltec, Maztican god of war. His home, a Maztican pyramid of intense size sits in a swamp of fetid sludge and ichor, like much of the layer. Inside the pyramid, warriors train and prepare for battle. Zaltec regularly sends contingents of his troops to Avernus, for Bel to use in the Blood War. Zaltec's warriors are always bloodthirsty to bring back demon hearts for their god.

Zaltec's Proxies perform sacrifices atop his pyramid, often consisting of devils and warriors who prove themselves in battle. Zaltec aids Baalzebul in the defense of the layer, where he works with Barbatos. Zaltec also sometimes works with Abigor and Zepar. He dislikes Abigor and hates Zepar, who he considers an incompetent buffoon.

Zaltec's pyramid is also guarded by Stone Colossi and fiendish snakes, scorpions, and jaguars.

Jaguar's Paw: This is a large internal courtyard, where infernal jaguars and fiendish human jaguar knights are trained. Many of these warriors are the ones that go to Avernus to join the Blood War.

The Altar: The Altar of Zaltec is where the constant sacrifices are held. Zaltec himself watches over the sacrifices, eating the hearts presented to him. This large platform also houses Zaltec's personal retuine, including his mount, a huge giant eagle which has been corrupted by Zaltecs power.
