History of Krampus

The creature known as Krampus has a long tradition of serving as one of the Companions of Santa Claus.  The son of the Asgardian death goddess Hel Krampus enjoyed tormenting children often beating them with birch branches and carrying them off in his sack to be eaten.  He was defeated by Santa Claus by casting a Planar Binding spell forcing Krampus to serve him as a Companion of Santa.

The spell bound Krampus to Santa's List which revealed who was naughty and who was nice.  Krampus was responsible for leaving lumps of coal or small ugly toys every year as a warning to children to be better behaved.  While he was bound to serve in this task he would often however delight in frightening the children. He took human form at times and was known by several different names.

With his mother's assistance Krampus was able to break free of the mystical binding that prevented him from harming children. While he still was forced to visit the children and leave a token of warning now he was free to punish them in whatever way he saw fit often whipping them with birch branches.  Santa tried for many years to capture the Christmas Demon finally succeeding in trapping him in his magical sack in the early twentieth century.
